A Dinner Conversation with Susan Subak: Discovering Low Carbon Culture in the USA

Susan Subak will be talking about her new research on low carbon culture in the United States, with a focus on the residential sector in Washington, DC and the commercial sector/higher education institutions nationwide. The culture was identified using utility reports, institutional surveys and other sources. Using slides, she will draw out the human story and explore how the low carbon outcomes developed and what it would take to sustain and replicate then.This program is a joint Harvard-MIT presentation and includes drink and a full dinner.
Biography
Subak has more than 20 years of experience as a climate change researcher. With a background in ecological economics, she has worked for the National Center for Atmospheric Research, the University of East Anglia, and the Stockholm Environment Institute. She is the founder of the Five-Ton Life Project, which focuses on scale and energy consumption transparency in the built environment. Her new book, The Five-Ton Life: Carbon, America, and the Culture that May Save Us, was published in 2018 by the University of Nebraska Press.
