Chef Maziar Farivar
Maziar brings over 30 years of restaurant experience to the peacock Café. While attending college at San Francisco State University, he first became enamored with the excitement, challenges and artistic opportunities found in San Francisco’s vibrant restaurant scene of 1980’s. During these formative years, Maziar learned and grew to appreciate the fine art of cooking.
Maziar and his brother Shahab Farivar, teamed up to open their own restaurant in 1991. Maziar has been the chef and partner of Peacock Café to the present. Positioned as a Contemporary American Restaurant and bar, the Peacock Café is today a fixture on the local dining scene. He was the featured chef at the James Beard House in March 2010 and 2012 presenting dinners in celebration of Norouz, Persian New Year, to a packed house.
In September of 2012, Maziar was invited by the US State Department to join the Diplomatic Culinary Partnership and the American Chef Corps as one of the select group of chefs nationwide. He accepted his first official assignment the following year for a trip to Italy, representing the United States at a culinary competition in Sicily and a presentation in Naples as a member of the American Chef Corps.
