What is 'Renaissance' art? How do we know who were its inventors? Was an inventor the same thing as a 'great master'? Were all artists who lived in Italy during the Renaissance great masters? How can we evaluate works of Italian Renaissance art? This talk will attempt to answer these questions and others, in explaining howour eyes can "read"works of painting, sculpture, and architecture. Professor Christiane Joost-Gaugier is an internationally known art historian, specializing in Italian Renaissance art history.
