Harvard-Princeton Inaugural Ball SOLD OUT!

Men must wear a coat and tie/tuxedo; ladies may wear business attire or ball gown or whatever they prefer. Jeans are unacceptable. $85. Members/$110. Nonmembers

This unique Princeton-Harvard event launches 2013 with an outstanding inaugural evening. Tickets for 1/18 will be first-come, first-served and as in 2009, we expect the event to sell out quickly.

Princeton alum Norm Augustine, former CEO of Lockheed Martin, and most recently chair of President Obama's NASA Space Flight Plans Committee, will join us on January 18th. Norman R. Augustine is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Lockheed Martin Corporation, and former Under Secretary of the Army. He's been compared to Microsoft's Bill Gates and ex-Intel CEO Craig Barrett for his national leadership in technology.

Augustine has served many Presidential boards, including the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. He was among the leaders testifying to Congress on the 2005 National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report, "Rising Above the Gathering Storm." He chaired that NAS panel, which recommended ways to strengthen research and education in science and technology.

Author of Augustine's Laws and Augustine's Travels, he was awarded National Medal of Technology and the U.S. Department of Defense's highest civilian award, the Distinguished Service Medal (which he received five times).

Lisa P. Jackson, Administrator, EPA - Joining us on January 18 is the Honorable Lisa P. Jackson, who leads EPA's efforts to protect the health and environment of the US.  She heads a staff of 17,000 professionals developing a green economy and addressing health threats from toxins and pollution. She worked tirelessly in managing the Macondo oil spill (2010) when it threatened a vast portion of the US shoreline, and has ensured that all EPA efforts reflect the best science.

Ms. Jackson is the first African-American to lead the EPA. She's kept her focus on vulnerable groups (children, the elderly and low-income communities) -- traditionally susceptible to environmental and health threats.  In addressing these key issues, she has promised all stakeholders their seats at the decision making tables.

Prior to leading the EPA, Ms. Jackson was Chief of Staff to New Jersey's Governor (Jon Corzine) and was Commissioner of the state's Department of Environmental Protection (EDP). A summa cum laude engineering graduate of Tulane University, she earned her Master's degree (Chemical Engineering, Princeton) in 1986.

Like Norm Augustine, Lisa Jackson is also a (Princeton) James Madison Medal awardee in recognition of her distinguished work as a Princeton Graduate School alumna.

We are also pleased to announce that Allison Shapira, MC/MPA 2010 from the Harvard Kennedy School, will perform a selection of patriotic American songs for us on January 18th. Allison is an accomplished singer/songwriter whose range encompases everything from opera to folk songs.

Please join us on January 18th to:

 - Reconnect with your fellow DC-area Crimson at a premier DC venue...
 - Meet Princeton's many DC alumni there to celebrate with you...
 - Savor our outstanding speakers, singers, buffet, and time together to celebrate the coming Inaugural...3 great reasons to attend!
