A play about journalist Molly Ivins ("Red Hot Patriot") written by Margaret Engel is coming to Arena Stage, starring Kathleen Turner. Molly Ivins was one of the nation's wittiest political writers until her death five years ago. The play has been wildly successful == premiered at Philadelphia Theatre Company and broke its 35-year box-office record, broke the 75 year record at the Zach Theatre in Austin (where it played twice last year!) and just finished a twice-extended run at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. Another dozen smaller venues have produced the play and it currently is running (with other actresses) in Ft. Worth and Houston.
