All who attend will receive a special lapel pin and a copy of Dov Seidman's recent book "HOW: Why HOW We Do Anything Means Everything" . The meeting will be held at Anderson House the beaux arts mansion of Larz Anderson Class of 1888, an active member of the Harvard Club of Washington, DC, whose wife was considered to be the richest female in American at the time of their marriage in 1893. Her fortune was inherited from her maternal grandfather, William Fletcher Weld a 19th Bostonian shipping magnate who was very generous to Harvard. The Society of the Cincinnati was founded in 1783 to maintain the spirit of camaraderie that had existed between the French and American Officers who fought on behalf of American independence. George Washington was its first President General. The Harvard Club of Washington DC was founded in 1883 and Larz Anderson was one of its early members. As of Larz Anderson's death in 1937 The Society has been housed at Anderson House. The Society promotes the study of the American Revolution, sponsors scholarships and provides educational materials to school children. It is America's oldest patriotic organization and oldest veterans organization and today consists of nearly 4000 members who are direct descendants of those French and American officers. Please note there is no charge to attend these tours, nor is there a charge to attend the Annual Meeting. The charges noted below are to defray the cost of the reception. Refunds of any kind are no longer possible. If you find that you can not attend an event, please find a substitute or consider all fees paid as a charitable donation to the Harvard Club of Washington, DC.
