Watershed Clean-up Day - Huntley Meadows Park, VA
Saturday, March 17, 2011
9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Give the waterways in your community a clean bill of health!
Harvard Club member Colette Hodes is a naturalist at the Huntley Meadows
Park in Virginia and invites you to participate in the park's spring
clean up on March17.
We will help clear out the earth’s arteries by collecting tires, bed
springs, bottles, cans and other debris. Give the waterways in your
community a clean bill of health and earn the gratitude of your furred,
feathered and scaled neighbors. Wear boots, old clothes and bring
gloves. Trash bags and appreciation provided. This is a great community
project!
Volunteers should meet at the main parking lot of Huntley Meadows Park
by 9 am. Older children are welcome, but must be supervised by adults,
as the clean-up will take place along a stream and a busy road with
traffic.
Huntley Meadows Park is located at Harrison Lane and Lockheed Boulevard
in Alexandria. One of the largest parks in Fairfax County, it contains
more than 1,425 acres of diverse habitats including wetlands, meadows
and mature forest. The park's animal residents include fox, deer,
beaver, otter and over 200 species of birds. Directions to Huntley
Meadows Park are at:

We can gather after our work at a nearby informal restaurant for lunch.
(Dutch treat, each pay for yourself.)
