CANCELED Introduction to Cartonnage at L'eclat de Verre
Cartonnage
$60.00
Flip Top Box
Come learn how to make a form of Cartonnage by making a Flip Top Box with
L'Eclat de Verre. Cartonnage is a French word for craft. The technique
involves working with French boards and paper to create anything 3D like a box,
photo album, storage, or decoration.
During this workshop you will be given the supplies and tools to make a
box. The only extra cost is from the paper needed to cover the exterior which
is up to your taste. Caitlin will help you construct this one of a kind Flip
Top Box step by step so you can show it off in your home or give as a
gift!
Caitlin Fowkes
Our cartonnage teacher, Caitlin, attended Lycoming College in Pennsylvania majoring in art. After graduation she worked for a restorer and conservator of art and gilded frames. Her husband's job moved her to DC where she started to work for L'Eclat de Verre right when the company expanded to the States. Here she trained under two French framers learning their way of framing as well as the French craft, Cartonnage. Caitlin has been practicing and creating forms of cartonnage ever since. She loves to work with her hands and create beautiful items for the home. Currently she is working freelance due to the recent birth of her daughter.
