Come join us for an evening with Maryland State Delegate Heather Mizeur, representing District 20 (Montgomery County) in the Maryland House of Delegates.
Heather Mizeur serves on the Appropriations Committee and is Vice Chair of its Education and Economic Development Subcommittee. Heather and seven other LGBT legislators in the General Assembly have played leading roles in the fight to bring marriage equality and transgender non-discrimination protections to the Free State. First elected in 2006, her work on LGBT issues has been featured in The Washington Post, The New York Times, the Washington Blade, Metro Weekly, The Baltimore Sun, the Gazette, and on National Public Radio. In 2011, The Advocate recognized Heather in their Forty Under 40 series as an emerging leader in the national LGBT movement. In 2010, the Daily Record named Delegate Mizeur one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. Since 2005, Heather has served as an elected Maryland representative to the Democratic National Committee and was appointed to the DNC Executive Committee by President Obama in 2009. Before becoming a state legislator, she spent four years as Director of Domestic Policy for Senator John Kerry and was the principal architect of his Presidential campaign’s health care reform agenda. Heather attended the University of Illinois, where she was a National Truman Scholar. She and her wife Deborah live in Takoma Park.
We hope you will join us. Please make sure to invite spouses, partners, and friends for this evening.
