IN PERSON: A Tour of Congressional Cemetery

Congressional Cemetery is committed to remaining an open and vibrant part of Capitol Hill as well as the greater Washington community and has been a final resting place for Washingtonians for over 207 years.

Date: Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 10:00 - 11:00am ET

Location: Congressional Cemetery, 1801 E Street, SE, Washington, D.C. 20003

The Congressional Cemetery, officially Washington Parish Burial Ground, is a historic and active cemetery on the west bank of the Anacostia River. It is the only American "cemetery of national memory" founded before the Civil War.

This tour will include a brief discussion of Gadsby’s Corner and a visit to the crypt of John Gadsby, the original owner of Gadsby’s Tavern. Please see related event on September 20th.

Our tour leader will be one of the talented docents provided by Congressional Cemetery.
