James Joyce's Birthday Celebration By OLLI

Join us for a James Joyce Birthday Celebration, organized by Club member Bob Kolodney for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at American University ("OLLI").

The Joyce birthday celebration program will include readings by three prominent Joyce Scholars:


  1. Robert Aubry Davis who will take a break from his PBS Around Town show to join us.
  2. Michael Groden who will tear himself away from other birthday celebrations to read to us.
  3.  Christopher Griffin who will take time away from his Politics & Prose Course on Later Chapters of Ulysses to celebrate with us. 


This Birthday Celebration will include the reading of passages from the "Telemachus," "Proteus," "Cyclops," "Circe," "Ithaca" and "Penelope" chapters of Ulysses and a screening of Joseph Strick's 1967 Ulysses film.  


In addition, there will be an OLLI/AU study group called PDQ Joyce from February 1 to February 5, 2021 (Description at PDQ Joyce).
