Citizen Science at the Anacostia River

Join Harvard volunteers in exploring the natural treasures of the Anacostia River and engaging in citizen science by helping document the biodiversity of the Anacostia River watershed.  This event will take place on Saturday, September 28th from 9am to 1pm and people of all ages are welcome!

The Anacostia Watershed Society is celebrating their 30th anniversary with the third annual bioblitz! Last year, over 1600 participants were able to identify 454 species along with other naturalist and experts. You can make your own observations using the iNaturalist app, at your own pace, from anywhere within the Anacostia River Watershed. This is a great opportunity to be a nature geek and to learn about the identification and ecology of some of the river's fascinating species.

The Anacostia Watershed Society is an organization that strives toto protect and restore the Anacostia River and its watershed communities by cleaning the water, recovering the shores, and honoring the heritage. For the past 30 years, they have been committed to efforts in environmental education, stewardship, and recreation, as well as engaging the community through public affairs.
