12th annual tour of the Ball's Bluff Battlefield and 150th anniversary of The Harvard Regiment
We will be led again by Bill Wilkin, NVRPA-trained volunteer guide, attorney, former Foreign Service officer and reserve officer. Bill is now a history teacher at Loudoun County's Stone Bridge High School.
Join us for our 12th annual tour of the Ball's Bluff Battlefield in Leesburg, Virginia and celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Battle.
See where The Harvard Regiment--the 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry--fought its first battle of the Civil War. Stand where future Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. ('61) was wounded. Hear the story of a daring escape across the Potomac led by Captain William Francis Bartlett ('62).
We will be led again by Bill Wilkin, NVRPA-trained volunteer guide, attorney, former Foreign Service officer and reserve officer. Bill is now a history teacher at Loudoun County's Stone Bridge High School. For directions to Ball's Bluff, go to the website of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority at www.nvrpa.org. Cost: $5 members, $10 nonmembers
Meet us at the circle at the park entrance before the gravel road begins for what a club member last year called " the best civil war walking tour he had ever taken."
This is a walking tour; wear shoes not sandals.
This is a perfect family excursion and children of all ages are welcome to attend
Please note that at Bill's request, all of the monies collected will be donated to the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority.
