Community Service Committee

Community Service Events: The Community Service Committee is dedicated to serving the local Washington, DC, community by expanding the involvement of the Harvard Club. The Community Service Committee plans regular volunteer events to engage with the local community.  We welcome new participants and encourage you to come join us! To sign up for regular e-mail notices about community service events, go to and click "Join Group." Please include a note stating your full name and Harvard affiliation.

Winternship Program: Harvard's Center for Public Interest Careers (CPIC) works with DC-area nonprofit organizations to organize short-term unpaid internship experiences for Harvard College students during Harvard's winter recess. Winternships can range in length from one to four weeks and can be part-time or full-time. Examples of how interns can work for your organization include conducting research projects, designing websites, completing grant applications, working on social media projects, supporting direct service work, and job-shadowing. If your organization is looking for an intern to work for you, please contact Travis Lovett, Director of CPIC, at Organizations generally post Winternship opportunities in October and November.

Summer Internships: The Harvard Club, as part of its service mission, supports and encourages undergraduates and recent graduates of Harvard to serve our DC-area communities and explore careers in the public interest through summer internships. We invite you to join us in these efforts. Information is available through the Center for Public Interest Careers:

Other Ways You Can Help: Would you like to mentor an undergraduate or recent graduate exploring public service careers? Does your organization have public service summer internships and jobs for “just hatched” Harvard alumni? Are you available as a speaker? Can you assist by joining our Community Service Committee? We welcome your support and involvement in connecting with students and alumni and broadening their experiences.
