Roughly 80% of all plant species require pollination, and most pollinators are bees. Over 50 different species of bee are likely to visit your yard looking to pollinate specific plants.
This presentation will focus mainly on one species, the European Honey Bee, Apis mellifera, starting with a look at its social activities inside the hive, then turning to its role in pollinating the foods we eat, and the many ways it is threatened. Finally, we’ll check out local beekeepers and beekeeping and finish up with Things You Can Do to reduce species loss.
