Allison Shapira (HKS Kennedy School MPA/MC 2010) in Concert at Anderson House FREE

Concert starts at 1:30 but the doors open at 1:00

Singer/songwriter and former opera singer Allison Shapira will perform a series of American folksongs, both originals and classics.

With a voice that has been compared in five countries to that of Joan Baez, Allison Shapira brings a modern voice to the folk music scene. In the summer of 2012, she moved out of her apartment in Harvard Square and went to Europe with a small suitcase and a travel guitar. A former opera singer, she had only been playing the guitar for a little over a year. She performed in Austria, France, Italy, and Croatia, earning fans from around the world. She returned to Boston to record her first original album, Coming Home, which was released in December 2012. She now lives in Washington, DC and recently gave a TEDx talk merging her musical journey with her professional career of helping others find their voice.
