Introduction to Beekeeping with Capitol Bee Care and the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild
Each particpant will receive an 8 ounce bottle of local honey from Capitol Bee Care, the White House apiarists.
We will hear a talk illustrating the connection we all have to honeybees and ways we can support our shared environment. The full bios of Rachel and Sean of Capitol Bee Care are available at: http://www.capitolbeecare.com/about.html -- they were the beekeepers for the Obama family. Lou, the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild Project Manager, will also be present.
An observation hive will be displayed, and each participant with have the the option of a garden tour or a separate monastery tour including the catacombs. Although direct contact with bees is not planned, we do not recommend that individuals with sensitivities or allergies to insect bites attend this event.
