Kingman Island Folk & Bluegrass Festival: Volunteer Opportunity

On Saturday, June 9th, Harvard Club of Washington, DC will lead a volunteer effort at Living Classroom's annual Kingman Island Folk & Bluegrass Festival.

We will be staffing the "Schmoozing with the Stars Main Meadow Tent", aka the VIP tent where the musicians will gather prior to going on stage.  


As one of our Volunteers you will receive: Free Festival entry, one free beer ticket, a volunteer t-shirt, and a reusable cup for each volunteer.

Shift 1: 11am-1:30pm
Shift 2: 1:30pm - 4pm
Shift 3:  4pm -6:30pm
Shift 4:  6:30pm -8:30pm
 

Proceeds from the Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival benefit Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region and its educational programming on Kingman Island.  You can read more about the Bluegrass & Folk Festival here.

Information about the Bluesgrass Festival.
The Kingman Island Bluegrass & Folk Festival will return for the 9th time to join the District in celebrating the Year of the Anacostia at this highly-anticipated benefit event.
 

Headlining an impressive lineup of nearly two dozen bluegrass, folk, and Americana music will be Ganstagrass, Cris Jacobs, and a very exciting showcase, The American Songster Revue (featuring Dom Flemons, Guy Davis, Amythyst Kiah, and more!).
 

The festival will also feature delicious local cuisine from your favorite food trucks, craft beer, cocktails, and fun for all ages through various outdoor activities, a kids’ zone with Baba Ras D, and much more.
 

WHY: Proceeds benefit Living Classrooms of the National Capital Region who operates Kingman Island for use as a public recreation space, nature preserve, and “living classroom” for hands-on environmental education programs for underserved area schools.
 

WHERE: Kingman and Heritage Islands Park on the west bank of the Anacostia River. 575 Oklahoma Avenue NE Washington, DC (entrance at RFK Stadium Lot 6).
Biking and metro are encouraged. A free shuttle will be running from the Stadium Armory Metro Stop. Parking is available in RFK Lot 6 for a fee.
