Volunteer with Escape Velocity

escape-velocitySupport a unique DC nonprofit organization over Labor Day weekend

Recent Harvard Alum, Mandy Sweeney, co-founded Escape Velocity last year. Escape Velocity partners with NASA to create a 3-day convention that combines real science with pop culture to engage and inspire learners of all ages.  This event also includes hands-on STEAM activities for kids.  Last year, 2,600 people came to the event, which featured over 100 hours of science-meets-sci-fi programming, drone racing, cosplay, and more!

Escape Velocity will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park from September 1 to 3. We are looking for volunteers to work a  4-hour work shift on Saturday, 9/2.  Volunteers duties and shifts will be assigned according to your abilities and interests, and can include: registration, hospitality, security, programming, and so on.

Please click the button below to start the registration process.  You will be contacted by the event coordinator with specific shift times and additional instructions to complete your registration.  If you would like to volunteer but are available on a different day, you can email communityservice@harvard-dc.org to learn about additional volunteer shifts or attend the Quantum Computing event on August 16th. The session will feature guest speaker Michael Brett, CEO of QxBranch, to whet your appetite for the fascinating program lineup at Escape Velocity!

In addition to supporting a great cause, volunteers get SWAG and a two 3-day passes to enjoy the program with a friend. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Can’t volunteer, but still want to go to Escape Velocity? Use code Harvard20 for a special discount on 3-day passes here: https://escapevelocity.events/
