Preventing Malaria: DoD Research and Development Leads the Way

mosquitoWithout an FDA approved malaria vaccine and the rapid development of antimalarial drug resistance, the DoD must remain vigilant to develop the pharmaceutical countermeasures to prevent malaria in deployed US forces.  As the premier biomedical laboratory for the DoD, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) has a long successful history in the development of most antimalarial drugs in use today. Furthermore, WRAIR is an essential partner in the development in the world’s first malaria vaccine.  Join U.S. Army LTC Norman Waters, Director, Military Malaria Research Program, to hear how WRAIR and its developmental partners work together to bring antimalarial drugs and vaccines onto the market for soldier health and global public benefit.
