Volunteer at Girls On the Run 5K (Washington, DC)

gotr_logo_dc_v3The Harvard Club needs volunteers to support and cheer on particiapnts in the Girls on the Run 5K - DC on Sunday, June 4th from 8:00 am to 10:30 am.

Girls on the Run is an organization that inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. They recognize that girls face social pressure and conflicting messages about how they should act. Studies show that by adolescence, girls' confidence drops about twice as much as boys'. Girls' perception of their academic ability declines, the likelihood of anxiety and depression increases and participation in physical activity plummets. Trained coaches lead small teams through a ten-week program where girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.

We will be placed along the course of the 5K and cheer for the girls as they run!  Please click the link below to start the registration process. You will be contacted by the event coordinator with additional instructions to complete your registration.  This event is limited to Harvard Club members and their guests.   Registration closes on 5/28.
