Dr. Feng Zhang AB '04 of the Broad Institute Will Be the Speaker at the MIT/Harvard/AAAS Colloquium

Dr. Zhang is the W. M. Keck Career Development Professor of Biomedical Engineering at MIT and a Core Faculty Member of the Broad Institute. He earned his AB in Chemistry and Physics from Harvard in 2004.

You are invited to a talk by Dr. Feng Zhang, "Treasure Hunting in Nature’s Trove," at an MIT/Harvard/AAAS Colloquium.

Dr. Zhang is a leading researcher in the rapidly evolving field of “human gene editing”.  This involves a simple procedure to replace a garbled gene sequence with the correct one, or even insert a gene if it is missing.  The consequences for human health are profound, since 6000 diseases have been identified as due to a missing or garbled gene. Dr. Zhang is likely to be a Nobel Prize candidate for his contributions to the field of human gene editing.

The Colloquium will be held at 6:00 PM, April 27, at the AAAS Headquarters, 1200 New York Ave. NW, Washington, DC.  Going by Metro, the AAAS Headquarters are one block from Metro Station, and by car, several parking garages are nearby.

Please email bcalinge@aaas.org by April 20, if you intend to come and hear Dr. Zhang.
