Join journalist and parent educator Katherine Reynolds Lewis for an interactive talk about how parents can manage working from home, 24-7 parenting, and our own anxiety and stress in this uncertain phase of the pandemic. The author of The Good News About Bad Behavior: Why Kids Are Less Disciplined Than Ever — And What to Do About It, Katherine will offer daily and weekly practices for finding calm, discerning and meeting your real needs, and setting healthy boundaries. Participants will leave the session more confident in their parenting and time management decisions, encouraged by her compassionate and humorous approach. This talk covers attuning to children's emotions, stress management strategies and setting up routines that support your family’s values.

About the Speaker

Katherine Reynolds Lewis is an award-winning journalist, author and speaker based in the Washington D.C. area on topics including parenting, children, education, and mental health. She’s a 2020-21 MIT Knight Science Journalism fellow, and graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in physics. Her award-winning book, The Good News About Bad Behavior (PublicAffairs, April 2018), explains why modern kids are so undisciplined and tells the stories of innovators who are rebuilding lost self-regulation, resolving family conflict and changing the trajectory of young lives.  Katherine’s work has appeared in The Atlantic, Bloomberg Businessweek, Experience Life, Fortune, Medium, The New York Times, Parents, Slate, USA Today, The Washington Post and Working Mother. She’s appeared on CNN, NPR, Bloomberg television and radio, and HuffPost Live, as well as many TV and radio programs nationally and internationally. Katherine is a certified parent educator with the Parent Encouragement Program in Kensington, Md.
