Visit Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens with Barbara Saffir ABE '82

Meeting place is in front of the visitor center.

Please join us on a hike through the country's largest public lotus garden and along the newest leg of the Anacostia Riverwalk trail.  Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens' giant pink and white lotuses should be at peak bloom.

You'll also likely see or hear birds aplenty from bright blue Indigo Buntings to stately white Great Egrets and maybe even the famous Bald Eagles from the National Arboretum just across the river.

Meet at 9:00am in front of the Visitor Center located along the main path from the entrance.  We'll stroll slowly for up to 3 miles along the garden's dirt, grass, and boardwalk trails for photo ops.  Afterward, hikers have the option to hike an additional 5 miles at a moderate pace along the paved river trail to Bladensburg (MD) Waterfront Park, for a total of about 8 miles.

The hike will be led Club member, Barbara Saffir, ABE '82 who wrote about the garden in "Walking, Washington, DC."
