Join the Dartmouth Club as we gather again for Summer Networking and Craft Beer Tasting at the historic City Tavern in Georgetown, with local craft beers brewed by the Right Proper Brewing Company of Shaw.
The Shaw Brewpub & Kitchen opened in 2013 and became an "instant anchor in D.C.'s burgeoning Shaw neighborhood," with more than 85 recipes created at the brewpub since it opened.  In 2015Right Proper opened the nearby Brookland Production House and Tasting Room where beers are brewed for local restaurants.  RightProper creates "rustic but elegant" beers with a complex flavor profile that are hop-focused or malt-focused, and "all are made with heart and soul."
Representatives from Right Proper will be on hand to lead us through some of their unique local brews, and the City Tavern Club will provide some light hors d'oeuvres.

The historic City Tavern Building was originally constructed in 1796, and functioned as a major hub of civic life during the early Federal period.  George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and other Founding Fathers frequented the Tavern during this time.  Throughout the 19th century, the Tavern changed hands many times until it was converted for retail use in 1898.  By 1960, the building had fallen into severe disrepair and was scheduled for demolition to make way for a parking lot.
The City Tavern Association was formed to restore the old tavern and preserve its authenticity, and the building was reopened in 1962.  The Tavern is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the City Tavern Club operates as a nonprofit organization with the mission of preserving one of the oldest Federal period buildings and the sole remaining founding-era tavern in Washington, D.C.

See you on June 10 for Summer Networking and Craft Beer Tasting!
