Tour Past, Present and Future in Historic Anacostia Tour with Tina Fletcher Ed.M., 2009 - FREE

Please bring water, a hat and wear your most comfortable shoes and register in advance! The tour will start and end at The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site.

 

The closest metro station is Anacostia on the Green Line.  This is a walking tour and expected to last around 90 minutes. At the conclusion of the tour you may wish to visit The Frederick Douglass National Historic Site on your own. The entrance fee is $1.50 per person.

 

Join Tina L. Fletcher, Ward 8 Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC), alongside Anacostia historians for a scenic walk through one of the city’s most beautiful hidden jewels. The tour will start and end at the Frederick Douglass Museum where parking is plentiful. We will tour Good Hope Road with members of the community, see the infamous Big Chair and visit a lively Art Center with galleries, and food vendors.



About Tina Fletcher

Before entering politics, Tina served as a U.S. Government teacher at Anacostia Senior High School in Washington, D.C. where she was named the 2010 Teacher of the Year. She then served as a fundraiser and successfully raised over $20 million for President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign as well as raising over $20 million for Lt. Governor Anthony Brown of Maryland. Additionally, she raised over $300 thousand for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on behalf of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies. Tina currently serves as a Community Engagement Advisor for the District of Columbia Government.

 

Tina has interned with the Southern Education Foundation, the Congressional Black Caucus on behalf of former U.S. Senator Blanche L. Lincoln and in the Office of the First Lady Michelle Obama. Tina was most recently named a Rising Political Star by EmPower Magazine. Tina, alongside her twin sister Trina, were named to the 93.9 WKYS Top 30 under 30 list. They have traveled throughout the United States and to Senegal and Benin inspiring and empowering young girls and women to diligently strive to achieve their educational and career goals.
