Like Father, Like Son: Gen. Nicholas Longworth Anderson AB 1858 and Amb. Larz Anderson AB 1888

Skip Moskey is the author of Larz and Isabel Anderson Wealth and Celebrity in the Gilded Age. The evening will begin with drinks and a full 3 course buffet dinner

Skip Moskey will present an entertaining and informative account of three generations of men who attended Harvard College in the 1820s, 1850s, and 1880s and discuss the importance of their Harvard affiliation on the course and destiny of one of America's great families: The Andersons of Goldmines, Virginia. Based on his just-published dual biography of Ambassador Larz Anderson (1866-1937) and his wife, Boston heiress Isabel Weld Perkins, Skip's presentation will cover student life in Cambridge during the second half of the 19th century and the ongoing place of Harvard in their lives. He'll also give a vivid account of the lively 40th reunion of H'88 (1888!). If the Anderson name sounds familiar, it should. In 1913, Larz donated the Nicholas Longworth Anderson (Class of 1858) Memorial Bridge that was meant to provide easy travel between Harvard Yard and the Harvard Stadium.
