Anderson Housea National Historic Landmark, has been the headquarters of the Society of the Cincinnati since 1938.  The mansion was completed in 1905 as the winter home of Larz and Isabel Anderson, a wealthy couple who devoted their lives to public service, travel, entertaining, collecting, and philanthropy.  Larz Anderson, (Class of 1888) was an American diplomat and a veteran of the Spanish-American War, while his wife was an American Red Cross volunteer and a prolific author. Larz Anderson was also a devoted member of the Society of the Cincinnati, as the great-grandson of Revolutionary War officer Richard Clough Anderson.  The couple used Anderson House to entertain, display their art collection, and support patriotic and charitable causes until Larz Anderson’s death in 1937.  The following year, his widow gave Anderson House and much of their art collection and furnishings to the Society of the Cincinnati.  Today, visitors to the mansion may take guided tours, view changing exhibitions, attend public programs, and research in the library.
