Join us for our 16th annual tour of the Ball's Bluff Battlefield in Leesburg, Virginia and celebrate the 154th anniversary of the Battle.  Our tour guide, Bill Wilkin is Chairman of the Loudoun County Heritage Commission and past president of the Loudoun County Civil War Roundtable. The Jackson House will be a new part of our tour this year.

See where The Harvard Regiment--the 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry--fought its first battle of the Civil War. Stand where future Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. ('61) was wounded. Hear the story of a daring escape across the Potomac led by Captain William Francis Bartlett ('62).

We will be led again by Bill Wilkin, NVRPA-trained volunteer guide, attorney, former Foreign Service officer and reserve officer. Bill is now a history teacher at Loudoun County's Stone Bridge High School. For directions to Ball's Bluff, go to the website of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority at www.nvrpa.org.

Important info about a relevant free exhibit in Leesburg:

I thought that you might like to know about a free Ball's Bluff Relic/History exhibit that is currently on display at the Thomas Balch Library in downtown Leesburg. The display and research library are open to the public seven days a week, but the hours do vary some. Should you wish to visit the library/display, I would give them a call at (703) 737-7195 to confirm their Saturday hours. The exhibit contains several relics that were recovered from the battlefield over the past 60 years. There are war dated newspapers, both U.S. and foreign that cover the battle and several CDV's (photographs) of participants of the battle (15th & 20th Massachusetts) on display. I hope you will make arrangements to visit this display while touring the Ball's Bluff Battlefield. I think you will be very happy that you did.
